“Work safely. Go home safely.”
The National Framers Council develops and implements
best practices to help ensure framers leave the jobsite
each day in the same health as they arrived.

Since FrameSAFE first rolled out in March of this year, 23 NFC Professional Framer members and 12 Skilled Subcontractors have subscribed to the program. As this bilingual, OSHA-compliant safety program is being implemented across the country, the feedback has been very positive.

“The number of people that came out and put their hand in their pocket for this cause was just wonderful,” said Kenny Shifflett, co-owner of ACE Carpentry.

The articles, columns, seminars, and social media posts describing how off-site construction methods will revolutionize home building continue unabated.

Jay and Joe Halteman's company, Wood Truss Systems, helps companies buy and sell much of the equipment used to create trusses and panels.

The International Residential Code (IRC) is largely a prescriptive code that lays out direction for materials and installation methods however there are items where the code carves out product provisions and limits the applicability of those provisions to a certain size building.

“A floor truss can be designed to span 30, or more, feet with ease,” Tim Carter shares with his ‘Ask the Builder’ followers when he was asked about building a multi-story home with no interior bearing walls or beams.

The SBCA Emerging Leaders Committee was created to give the next generation of leaders in the structural building components industry and in SBCA an opportunity to meet one another. California TrusFrame has been especially supportive of these efforts.

With the ongoing shortage of skilled labor showing little signs of abatement, contractors are eagerly seeking ways to increase efficiency such as the use of panelized wood-framed wall systems and other methods of prefabrication.

The first test for any new construction project is determining the building codes that will apply to it. This article will briefly outline how every project falls into one of two model codes based on the features of the structure.
