Framers Encouraged to Participate in Vaccine Awareness

The COVID-19 vaccine is as essential as you are

The SBCA’s National Framers Council (NFC) is a member of the Construction Industry Safety Coalition (CISC), which is made up of 30 trade associations from all sectors of the construction industry, including commercial building, heavy industrial production, home building, road repair, specialty trade contractors, material suppliers, and construction equipment manufacturers. This group focuses heavily on workplace safety and health, with each member committed to helping create safer construction jobsites for workers.

The CISC is encouraging all members to participate in the COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Week in Construction taking place April 19-23, 2021.  This effort is designed to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) campaign to raise awareness of the safety, effectiveness, and benefits of workers receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.  The CDC recommends that all workers in the United States get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as they are eligible to end the pandemic and help Americans return to their normal lives.

In a study by the CDC/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), researchers found that the lowest rates of seasonal flu vaccination—less than 19 percent—were among workers in the construction industry and that improvements in influenza vaccination coverage is needed.  Construction companies have a role to play in keeping workers healthy and COVID-19 vaccination is an important tool.

This is why all NFC members are encouraged to participate in the COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Week in April and support the CDC’s vaccination efforts.  The CDC has developed simple, straightforward ready to use materials (e.g., key messages, newsletter content and social media messages, posters/flyers) available in their Essential Workers COVID-19 Vaccine Toolkit, which can be used by your organization to educate employers and workers about COVID-19 vaccines, raise awareness about the benefits of vaccination, and address common questions and concerns.
